Upgrade your microscope to Confocal

Introducing the Aurox Clarity, the compact, easy and affordable route to laser-free confocal imaging using your existing fluorescence microscope.

Clarity packs 15 years of Aurox confocal microscopy and optical technology into the World’s most compact, high performance confocal imager.

Fits your microscopes

and is easily moved between them

Designed to fit virtually any microscope, Clarity uses Aurox’s patented structured illumination technology and a spinning disc to achieve high resolution, high quality confocal images, fast, easily and affordably.

Clarity has a standard microscope C-mount connector and a range of coupling adaptors / spacers to fit historical and new microscope models from all major manufacturers.

The height of versatility and adaptability, Clarity is extremely compact, having dimensions 390 x 220 x 135 mm (WDH) and weighing <6Kg. It can be mounted on upright and inverted microscopes, left or right camera ports.

Connect your camera

Connect sCMOS or CCD detectors

Clarity can be connected to a wide range of large format sCMOS and CCD cameras. Selected cameras can be purchased directly from Aurox with your Clarity.

If you already have a camera, a wide range are supported by our Visionary software for use with Clarity.

Supported detectors include:

  • Hamamatsu ORCA Flash 4.0 V3
  • Andor Zyla 5.5 USB3
  • Photometrics Prime 95B
  • Photometrics BSI
  • PCO Edge 5.5 USB3

Select your bandwidth

From a full range of filter cubes

Clarity incorporates an internal 4-position filter cube turret, accessed via an external door. The turret accepts Aurox’s custom sized filter cubes which incorporate both emission and excitation filters. These filter cubes are user exchangeable and quick and easy to replace by hand and without tools.

A wide range of Aurox filter cubes are available to cover the commonly used bandwidths, which include multi-pass quad band filter cubes.

Custom filter cubes can be produced for your specific research application needs.

Easy to use with

Aurox Visionary software

Clarity comes with the Aurox Visionary device control and image acquisition software.

Fast and easy to use, Visionary presents all experiment set-up and device controls in one colour coded work-flow, under a single graphical user interface window.

Key features of Visionary include:

  • z-stack imaging
  • Mosaic image tiling
  • Time-lapse & multi-channel multi-position imaging
  • Confocal, wide-field & bright-field modes.
  • 3 sectioning modes for optimised resolution or speed.
  • OME-TIFF file format.
  • One-click image export.

For more complicated experimental set-up or control, Clarity can also be controlled using a customised Aurox Micromanager.

High Speed (HS) version, upto 100 fps

For imaging fast dynamic processes

The high speed version, ClarityHS provides up to 100 frames per second imaging when paired with a compatible high speed camera e.g. Hamamatsu Flash 4.0 V3 with "Camera link option" and a Shuttle computer.

Windows 10 instrument control computer

Choose between NUC and Shuttle PC options

Clarity has the option of delivery with an instrument control computer installed with the Aurox Visionary software. The computer is connected by USB2 and can be either a compact NUC or a Shuttle PC.

Connect your light source

LED and metal halide light sources supported.

Designed for use with LED and metal halide light sources, Clarity is free from laser safety restrictions and benefits from low photo-toxicity, low-bleaching, low maintenance and low cost of ownership.

Selected light sources are available directly from Aurox with your Clarity.

If you already have a light source then please refer to our full list of devices already supported by Visionary for use with Clarity.

Fast and easy installation

Install to processed Z-stack in 5 mins.

Ok. Conditions were ideal and our colleague has lots of practice, but watch in awe as she installs, aligns and calibrates the Clarity, then goes on to collect and process a Z-stack, all within 5 mins.
